Do I need prior knowledge of economics to take the health economics course?
No, no prior knowledge is required. The course is aimed at an audience who has knowledge of public health but not of health economics.

Will the course assignments require much technical expertise?
No. The material presented in the modules and the assignments are geared toward participants with no particular technical expertise. However, for those interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the material, we will provide guides to further study and exploration.
How much time will it take to complete the training session?
Each training session has 4 modules. Each module is available on a YouTube channel and takes about 40 minutes to watch. There are no required readings, but we do provide optional readings if you wish to explore the material in more depth. So, the total amount of time required for each training course is:
Is the course ‘self-study'?
Yes, both courses are entirely online and asynchronous.
What do I have to do to complete the course?
To complete the course, you must watch each module and pass a short quiz. That is, there is a short quiz (5 multiple choice questions) at the end of each module. You must get 4 out of 5 correct answers to pass the quiz. Once you have successfully passed the 4 quizzes (one after each module) you will get your certificate.
What happens if I don’t pass the quiz on the first try?
You can take each quiz up to 6 times. If you do not pass by the 6th time, we will be available to review the material with you and then you can take the quiz again.
Can I take both the Behavioral Economics training session and the Health Economics training session simultaneously?
Yes, you can. You would be committing to 4 to 6 hours for each course.
What do I get if I complete the course?
You will receive a certificate signed by the Director of the California Department of Public Health and the instructor signifying that you have completed the training course in Health Economics or Behavioral Economics.
How do I enroll in the training session?

If I have taken one of the courses (i.e., Health Economics) before, can I now take the other course (i.e., Behavioral Economics) now?
Yes. Go ahead and complete the information requested on the Contact Us page.
Are there CEU's associated with the course(s)?
While you will receive a certificate for completion of the training course(s), unfortunately, these trainings do not qualify for REHS CE credits as UC Merced is not an accreditation agency that has been approved by the CDPH REHS Program. For more information visit: https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CEH/DRSEM/Pages/EMB/REHS/REHS-Continuing-Education-Requirements.aspx.However, you can report the certificate to your training coordinator, so the training coordinator can input it into PHETTS to have record of it.
