No prior knowledge of economics or health economics is necessary. The course will be aimed at those with an interest in understanding the applications of health economics to public health agencies.
Behavioral economics as a science and its applications to public policy and practice are expanding rapidly around the world. This field draws on economics, psychology, neuroscience, and other social sciences to understand the drivers of human behavior and apply those insights to motivating adaptive decisions. This course will be of particular interest to staff interested in learning how to apply behavioral economics to the development and evaluation of behavior change policies and interventions. In addition, it will be of interest to staff interested in understanding how to improve collaborative decision-making within an organization.
The course is designed for people who want to have a Fundamental Awareness of behavioral and/or health economics. The training will be offered online and can be completed at your own pace. Each course will have four modules. At the conclusion of each of four module, there will be a quiz that you must successfully complete. Completion of all four modules is necessary to gain a certificate at the Fundamental Awareness Level.
Time required: Approximately 1 to 2 hours each week for 4 weeks; 4 to 8 hours in total.
